Garam’s practice spans business litigation, transactional, and corporate advisory. Prior to founding Choe & Mateo, Garam practiced at nationally recognized law firms where he represented institutional and individual investors in securities, corporate governance, and antitrust matters.

In addition to his litigation practice, Garam regularly serves as outside general counsel to U.S. subsidiaries of foreign corporations that do not maintain American in-house counsel. In this role, he provides day-to-day legal guidance across corporate, employment, and regulatory issues, ensuring business leaders can navigate the U.S. market with confidence. Garam bridges gaps between global parent companies and their American operations, helping clients anticipate risks, resolve disputes, and seize opportunities.

While in law school, Garam worked at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office where he assisted prosecuting cyber crime and identity thefts and at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority where he assisted in bringing enforcement actions against financial firms and their associated persons.

Garam received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law, where he received a merit-based scholarship covering the full cost of tuition. Additionally, Garam was an active member of the Moot Court Honor Society, through which he successfully competed in various competitions. Garam was the first place winner, best brief writer, and best oralist for the Elaine Jackson Stack Moot Court Competition hosted by the Nassau County Bar Association. Garam continues to mentor law students through the St. John’s Moot Court Honor Society.
